EXPLORATION CONCEPT


Hair as a source of inspiration for texture and sensory experience. 
Explore the manipulation of fabric both physically and digitally.


BUILD PLAN


From hand sketches, Solidworks and Illustrator were used to figure out specific details and draw the exact profile.

The transition from the table top to the octogonal-axle pieces was built in Solidworks then exported as an 1:1 orthographic drawing.


FITTING TEST


The legs were cut and sand together to ensure they are symmetrical. Before gluing and finishing, the components are fitted together to check for tolerances, height, stableness in the legs.


CURVY NEGATIVE SPACE


By eliminating legs on one side of the table and redirecting the pressure down an arc to a tapered foot on both sides, a dynamic profile is established, differentiating itself from other rectangular C Tables.


STURDY YET DELICATE


Smooth, rounded profiles, horizontal beam structures, and appropriate tolerance between the interacting parts allow the table to be light and delicate in its visual; yet sturdy and robust in its structure.


OCT-ABLE?


Inspired by a rotisserie, the intent of designing a rotatable table top within specific angles led to the implementation of an octagonalaxle, allowing the table top to be rotated in 45-degree increments.


STUDY ON?


The height and angle of the table top is perfect for studying on the floor!
The thin feet and curved legs allows the user to comfortably rest their legs underneath. 

The table size comfortably fits a paper packet, a tablet, and even a laptop.
